Basert på skredfaglige råd fra Norges geotekniske institutt (NGI) vil Sysselmesteren oppfordre publikum til å utvise aktsomhet ved ferdsel langs vei 100 og 300 grunnet økt fare for våtsnøskred (se vedlagte kart).
Sysselmesteren følger utviklingen i skredfaresituasjonen tett i samarbeid med NGI, Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE) og Longyearbyen lokalstyre og vil fortløpende vurdere behov for tiltak. Sysselmesteren vil gjennomføre et nytt møte med aktørene i morgen kl. 15.00.
Increased risk of wet snow avalanches in Longyearbyen
Based on avalanche expert advice from the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), the Governor will urge the public to exercise caution along Roads 100 and 300 as there is an increased risk of wet snow avalanches (see attached map).
The Governor is closely monitoring the development of the avalanche risk situation in collaboration with NGI, the Norwegian Directorate of Water Resources and Energy (NVE) and the Longyearbyen Local Council LL and will continuously assess the need for measures. The Governor will have another meeting with the actors tomorrow at 3 p.m.
