Både fastboende og tilreisende er smittet. Situasjonen ble drøftet i et møte i beredskapsrådet for Svalbard torsdag. Medlemmene i beredskapsrådet er enige om at det foreløpig ikke er behov for å pålegge strenge tiltak.
- Vi oppfordrer folk til å holde avstand og sprite hendene, holde seg hjemme hvis man er syk og teste seg hvis man har symptomer på smitte, sier smittevernoverlege Knut Selmer ved Longyearbyen sykehus.
- Vi anbefaler folk om å bruke munnbind i butikker hvis det ikke er mulig å holde avstand, sier han.
Longyearbyen lokalstyre vil etablere en utdelingsstasjon for selvtester i nærheten av Næringsbygget.
Så snart utdelingsstasjonen er i drift, vil det bli utdelt gratis selvtester til prioriterte grupper i Longyearbyen, i første rekke personer med luftveissymptomer, uvaksinerte nærkontakter og barnehagebarn, skoleelever og studenter.
Det vil bli lagt ut informasjon om plassering og åpningstid for utdelingsstasjonen så snart dette er klart.
- Vi stiller oss bak rådene fra smittevernoverlegen. Vi følger situasjonen nøye framover og har løpende kontakt med smittevernoverlegen og Longyearbyen lokalstyre, samt sentrale helsemyndigheter, sier sysselmester Lars Fause.

Longyearbyen lokalstyre will establish a distribution station for self-tests near Næringsbygget.
As soon as the distribution station is in operation, free self-tests will be distributed to priority groups in Longyearbyen, primarily people with symptoms of illness, unvaccinated close contacts and kindergarten children, schoolchildren and students.
Information on the location and opening hours of the distribution station will be posted as soon as this is ready.
